MATV System Installation at Swansea Guildhall
Project Overview
The Swansea Guildhall, a Grade I listed building and civic landmark, underwent a significant refurbishment to modernise its facilities while preserving its historic character. As part of this upgrade, One Vision Digital Ltd was commissioned to design and install a state-of-the-art Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) system, enhancing the Guildhall’s audiovisual capabilities.
Objectives
- Deliver a robust and scalable SMATV system to distribute television and satellite signals throughout the Guildhall
- Utilise a fibre optic backbone to ensure signal quality over long distances within the building
- Respect and maintain the architectural integrity of the historic structure during installation
Technical Implementation
Our team worked closely with the Swansea Council to install a comprehensive SMATV solution featuring:
- Fibre Optic Backbone: Deployment of specialised fibre optic cabling to transmit signals across the building without degradation, ensuring high-quality reception at every endpoint
- Multiswitch Distribution: Integration of Triax 13-wire and 9-wire multiswitches to efficiently manage and distribute signals to multiple locations
- Full Coverage: Provision of TV and satellite services to 30 key points across the Guildhall, supporting a wide range of operational needs
Outcome
The completed SMATV installation has significantly improved the Guildhall’s functionality, enabling reliable audiovisual support for events such as conferences, concerts, and civic ceremonies. The high-performance fibre optic infrastructure ensures dependable, future-ready signal distribution in line with the building’s modernised systems.
